CREATIVITY
EXPERTISE
Art Education
After a decade of working as a designer, illustrator, and copywriter, I know how the lessons we learn in the art classroom become a career. For high school students with college and the workforce on the horizon (and many already working after-school jobs), I want to demonstrate that learning to make something with your hands has boundless applications. Art helps us understand metaphor, communicate our feelings, promote empathy across cultural divides, and learn about the past. Additionally, art can be a powerful regulatory tool in a time where students are struggling with their mental health and anxieties about a rapidly changing world.
My Experience
Art Director
MTV Entertainment Group (5 years):
I worked across multiple TV networks (VH1, MTV, and BET primarily) creating promotional designs. This included creating logos, key art, title cards, cast photography, and event collateral. I collaborated cross-functionally with producers, executives, photographers, and animators, experience directly transferable to interdisciplinary teaching teams.
Advantage Solutions (2 years):
I created designs for nationally recognized brands including SunnyD, Juicy Juice, and Dunkin’. My work spanned integrated campaigns across digital, social, and print platforms, requiring both conceptual thinking and attention to detail in execution. In particular, my work with SunnyD involved understanding teen audiences.
Freelance Designer
I create visuals for a wide range of clients across industries. I work with big brands and small businesses alike translating complex ideas into accessible visual formats, a skill transferable to differentiated instruction and assessment. I manage multiple projects while maintaining clear communication and strong organization. I’m adaptable to constantly shifting client goals and the unpredictability of running my own business.
Fine Art and Creative Writing Teacher
Camp Kids Klub:
As a Fine Art and Creative Writing Instructor at Camp Kids Klub, I designed and taught a ten week curriculum structured around weekly explorations of differing artistic mediums including drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor, fiber arts, and ceramics. My classes helped students ages five through fifteen develop technical skills while experimenting creatively. I scaled projects to accommodate a wide range of ages and abilities.
Substitute Teacher
Scoot Education:
I work as a substitute teacher with Scoot Education, delivering instruction and managing classrooms while maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of the regular teacher. I adapt quickly to the needs of new environments and build rapport with students and staff.
