Art Education: Landcape Drawings
These landscape drawings and paintings are the result of a lesson with Kindergarteners and first graders at a summer camp in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. We looked at the mountains every day, but did we see them? I led students through the basic principles of drawing a mountain range (shapes overlap! objects close to us are bigger than objects farther away!). I prompted students to think about what they mind find on the mountains and to draw inspiration from the mountains they see and other mountains they know about.
Objective: Students will be able to create a painting of a mountain with multiple peaks, structures, and a sky.
